Licensed by the State of Connecticut, the KidsPlace after- school program is open to JCC members in grades K-5. The KidsPlace rooms provide homey nooks and crannies where children can play in comfort after school.
Daily developmentally and age-appropriate games and activities give the children a sense of security and stability during afternoon hours. Snacks are provided twice each afternoon. Children are broken into three groups, kindergarten and first grade, second and third grade and The Clubhouse, designed specifically for the needs and interests of fourth and fifth graders.
Kids design their own program by choosing from a variety of electives. There are three hour long periods each day and participants choose from 2 activities each hour. The after school schedule includes electives such as counselor-assisted homework time, swimming, sports, cooking, arts and crafts, and games to name a few.
For children who are interested in dance or sports there are many classes offered through various JCC departments for an additional fee and are all available to KidsPlace participants. KidsPlace counselors will escort children to those classes and back to KidsPlace.
On days when the public school is closed, the JCC offers thematic vacation day programs (either trips or in-house special entertainment) from as early as 8 am to as late as 6 pm.
In order to be enrolled in KidsPlace, families must be a member of the Jewish Community Center. Membership is open to everyone. No one is denied membership because of race or religion. For membership fees and information, please contact the Membership Director at 203.487.0945.
