The City of Stamford, along with a number of partner organizations (see list below), are working together on a design for the renovation of Hatch Field Park. We have conducted two of three planned public meetings, the third of which is tentatively scheduled for November 29th at the Yerwood Center. The Friendship House Tenants Association conducted a survey in September to determine what elements would be attractive to local residents. During the first meeting on September 25th, we heard from the public about what they want in the park. The lead designer from Stantec Consulting Services, Gary Sorge, used this and other input to put together preliminary plans. For instance, he also worked with a student committee at the Yerwood Center, composed of local youth, in order to gain their perspective. At our second public meeting on Oct. 25th, Stantec presented several alternative designs, which those who attended critiqued and edited.

What you see here are two alternatives that best incorporate the feedback we have received so far. Each design includes a basketball court, both a playground for 2-5 year olds and 5-12 year olds, a splash pad, swing set, walking path, picnic area with pavilion, and increased green space. Improvements will be made to the fencing and the lighting as well.
